About the opportunity

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in secure embedded computing and networking, software engineering, or both. Applicants must provide evidence of demonstrated excellence in, and a commitment to, research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong externally funded research program, supervise graduate student research, participate in service activities at the Department level and beyond, and foster exciting and new collaborations with government and industry, as well as collaborate with members of Dalhousie’s research community.

Applicants must have a doctorate in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. An undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering is preferred. The successful candidate must be eligible and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia. We are seeking expertise in real-time embedded systems and systems-on-chip, with a strong focus on security. Potential research expertise includes development on state-of-the-art processing platforms as well as implementation of cryptography algorithms. Also, applicants with a strong background in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in emerging areas in computer engineering such as computer architecture, quantum information, cloud computing, computing theory, machine learning, data analytics, artificial intelligence are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in computer engineering and specialized topics at the graduate level. Preferably, the research interests align with one or more of the following research areas:

  1. Information and communication technology

  2. Ocean technology

  3. Biomedical engineering

  4. Smart Systems
