Professor position in optical communications and related fields
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. Applicants should have or soon receive a Ph.D. in electrical, computer or physics engineering, computer science or a related field. If the applicant is not already a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec, the university requires they agree to become a member.
As a new professor, you would join a research group for optical communications in the Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers. We are seeking applicants proficient in oral and written communications, and who collaborate well in a team environment. Several research areas would be compatible with the optical communications group, including but not exclusively,
networking for communications, orstatistical digital signal processing, orcommunications systems, ormachine learning, orsystem optimization, oroptical communications devices, oroptical fiber communications
Excellent mentoring opportunities exist with the group (see https://lco.fsg.ulaval.ca/en/home/) to develop your full career potential. While establishing your research program, and you would be coached in seeking industrial and government funding, and in recruiting and supervising graduate students in their research. The position involves teaching in French at the undergraduate and graduate level. Non-francophone candidates are offered the means of acquiring and perfecting French language skills during the first three years of employment.
Child care is available on campus and professors are eligible for parental leave.
