Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Position in Software Engineering with an emphasis on A.I.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Software Engineering at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.


Applications are invited from candidates with demonstrated impact, originality, and continued promise in all areas related to software engineering as evidenced by the quality of their scientific contributions and statement of their short- and long-term goals. Successful candidates will supervise graduate students and will teach in their field of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate level.


Candidates must have earned a PhD in software engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related area. The successful candidate will have impactful publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, conferences, books and book chapters. In addition, the successful candidate will have respected teaching skills and a record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels, or have demonstrated the promise for excelling in the classroom and in serving the academy and profession. The successful candidate will also be required in due course to become a licensed professional engineer in the Province of Alberta.


Candidates with demonstrated expertise and an ongoing research program in artificial intelligence and applied machine learning may be considered for an appointment under the Canada CIFAR Artificial Intelligence (CCAI) Chairs Program (https://www.cifar.ca/ai/pan-canadian-artificial-intelligence-strategy) in concert with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (https://www.amii.ca).
